My Story and Purpose

Following the sudden death of my best friend at 26 I began to use running to help me navigate my journey through grief. I ran my first marathon in 2012 and over the last 12 years have run 15 marathons and 7 ultras, as well as countless half marathons, raising over £20k for a charity set up in my best friend’s memory. Endurance running became my escape, my freedom, and a coping mechanism to support my healing process. In more recent years I found my passion for strength training, joining the gym I now co-own in 2020 during covid - the community support during such an isolating time was something that gave me strength. Strength is a key part of who I am - it is something I aspire to hold in both body and mind and was particularly important when I found out I was pregnant. Continuing training during pregnancy was a non-negotiable for me - training right up until the day I gave birth and returning soon after has continued to support my mental and physical health.

My journey through grief was a key catalyst in my love of exercise, however, I believe that at the beginning it was less than a healthy approach. From a potential exercise addiction and negative relationship with food, including disordered eating I have spent the last few years shifting my approach due to a renewed sense of self - which only emerged fully during pregnancy and post-birth.

Since becoming a personal trainer, I have developed my own personal approach to being a coach - one that supports women in finding strength, confidence, and power in forming healthy habits that change their lives one little step at a time. I want women to feel safe and empowered to train whilst pregnant and to change the narrative around this, I want mums to feel empowered to prioritise exercise and movement as a non-negotiable for their mental and physical health, and I want to make training challenging, fun and motivating for those women I coach. I have seen first hand the power of exercise, of doing hard things, of pushing your body, and want to support other women to do the same.
